The main difference between the MXVSS and existing analogs it's that the system has an integrated-oriented technical means of the terror weapons detection (weapons, explosive materials and devices (IED), radioactive materials), as well as the possibility of using multiple methods of inspection and detection at once. The system is based on Mercedes chassis, also MXVSS have an autonomous power generator.
Four MXVSS were used to ensure safety during the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.
MXVSS (Mobile X-ray Vehicle Screening System) is designed for screening bulky cargo and vehicles for detection of radioactive materials and explosives, as well as other restricted articles using radiometric and dosimetric surveillance equipment.
MXCSS’s 4,5/9MV X-ray imaging system is the most powerful and advanced X-ray inspection system available on a mobile vehicle screening system. Due to the usage of a cyclic accelerator with variable radiation energy, the system can as well operate in a dual-energy mode that allows to discriminate organic and inorganic material.
MXVSS mobility improves detection of contraband goods, as the system could be deployed in non-typical and unexpected locations.
The system works in two scanning modes: system remains immobile, whereas the vehicles move through the portal (‘dynamic object’ mode), moves in parallel to the searched object (‘static object’ mode). In dynamic object mode, it is possible to scan driver cabin due to the ability to change X-ray energy during an inspection.
As an additional option, the system can be enhanced by a backscattered mode that allows to inspect vehicles and cargos from one side, it is a great help in case of no both side access. The system with this additional option allows to detect radioactive and/or nuclear materials in active mode.
The MXVSS has the capability to run independently from location to location and is ready to use in under 30 minutes. The MXVSS is designed for ease of operation, requiring the smallest footprint and external infrastructure while still satisfying the most demanding worldwide security screening requirements.
